SABER STRIKE – Royal Marines In Latvia

Royal Marine Commandos exit a US Army Europe CH-47 Chinook in a session of cold load training in Latvia [US Army: Sgt. Shiloh Capers]

Royal Marine Commandos are seen disembarking from a USAREUR CH-47 Chinook in a session of cold load training at Adazi in Lithuania prior to deploying on a SABER STRIKE air assault.

Cold load training is the practice of entering or exiting the aircraft while it is shut down. Both training and aircraft – Chinook and Blackhawk – were provided by personnel from 10th Combat Aviation Brigade of US Army Europe (USAREUR) currently deployed to Lielvarde in Latvia. This training was to prepare the Commandos for an upcoming event during Exercise SABER STRIKE 17, which will include the quick uploading and offloading of personnel.

SABER STRIKE is a USAREUR-led multinational combined forces training exercise in the Baltic region.
