On Test ~ New HAIX Tactical 2.0 In Brown

Just in today and hot off the lasts are these new HAIX Black Eagle Tactical 2.0 patrol boots in MoD Brown leather.

My first impression of these lightweight, mid-height brown leather boots is very favourable indeed – not least because a UK 10.5 (EU 45 / US 11.5) boot tips the scales at under 600 grammes! We plan on taking these boots out to the Baltic next week to give them a proper test while we are working with another of the NATO eFP battlegroups but, as the December issue of C&S will go to the printers before our return, we’re afraid readers will have to wait until the January issue of the magazine for a fuller report.

As can be seen from the photos, these boots have HAIX’s own sole tread design and also use the German manufacturer’s fast lace lock system (which I have been using on other boots for a couple of years and really like). As these boots are quite low cut, especially at the rear which will suit troops who spend a lot of time in cramped armoured vehicles, they only have five pairs of lacing eyelets so they are fast to don and doff. I suspect these will get a lot of wear.

UPDATE: This new HAIX boot model, which is available for private purchase, is produced in half sizes from the standard UK3 through to UK12 plus the extra range from UK13 to UK15.
